Students in Mr. Johnston's design technology classes are turning out awesome STEAM projects using CAD and 3D printers to create custom phone holders.
The students designed phone holders to specification using TinkerCAD. TinkerCAD (Computer automated design) is a simple software that is web based.
The students had to measure their phone, in some cases convert measurements, and add those measurements to their design in TinkerCAD.
The projects were then printed all out on the 3D printer. The printing process took 4 weeks! One design can take up to 9 hours to print!!
STEAM at Cathey Middle School is part of the district wide effort to enhance student learning through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
