A message to parents from Dr. J.A. Gonzalez:

Greetings parents,

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our school. Our goal, at Dr. Rodney D. Cathey Middle School, is to provide your child with a world-class education. The staff at Cathey Middle School looks forward to working hand-in-hand with parents to ensure that our students reach their full potential. I am confident that our systematic, standardized professional approach to delivering our curriculum and

instruction will provide your child with a solid educational foundation.

We need your help in the following areas:

  • Attendance is of the utmost importance. Give your best individual effort to get your child to school every day.
  • Monitor your child’s schoolwork at home. Develop a system that enables you to keep up with your child’s academic progress. Make sure that your child is completing their homework, studying for tests and completing projects.
  • Talk to your child about the importance of conducting themselves appropriately at school. Make sure that your child is focused on being the best that they can be everyday.
  • Encourage your child to participate in extracurricular activities. There are many life skills that your child can learn from performing in a competitive arena.
  • Communicate with your child’s teachers, counselors, and administrators. If you have a question, comment, concern, or reservation, let us know at your earliest convenience.

Thank you,
Dr. J.A. Gonzalez, Principal
