Texas PreFreshmanEngineering Program (TexPREP) is

now accepting applications for its summer program

TexPREP is an academic enrichment program formiddle school and high school students. Students are eligible if they have the interest and potential forcareers in the fields of mathematics, science, technology, and/orengineering.  Once accepted, studentswill spend seven summer weeks on the UTPA campus and will come back for specialevents in the Fall and Spring.  They willinteract with students their age and with professionals in the fields ofmathematics, science and engineering who will share their experiences andknowledge about possible future careers.

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Dr. Rodney D. Cathey Middle School plays a vital role in the success of our school. Over the years, our PTO has provided:

1. Shade canopies for our courtyard and practice field.
2. A chain-link fence to surround our practice fields.
3. An new electrical marquee/refurbished our old marquee
4. A state of the art computer server for our student computer labs
5. A storage shed for our Athletic and Physical Education Department
6. Monetary donations for countless projects
7. Lunch to our staff during Teacher Appreciation Week, and
   
8. Interactive Smart Boards for our Math Department

This year our PTO is hosting a “Spring 4 a Break” Field Day in an attempt to raise as much money as possible. Our hard work and dedication has placed us in a very prestigious category.  Just for the Kids has selected Cathey Middle School as a 2009 Just for the Kids Higher Performing School inTexas based on our performance in Mathematics. Our school was selected as higher performing based on an analysis conducted by the National Center for Educational Achievement, sponsor of the Just for the Kids Campaign. more...
